Avian Influenza Virus in Cow’s Milk

In April, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced they are investigating an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus impacting dairy cows in multiple states. FDA testing found particles of the virus in 1 out of 5 samples of retail milk.
