Mississippi Market Passes $1M in Round-up Program

Mississippi Market in St. Paul, Minn., recently surpassed $1 million in contributions through its register donation program “Positive Change.” The program, which started in 2015, lets customers round up their purchases and contribute their $0.10 reusable bag credit for a designated St. Paul–based nonprofit organization each month. Shoppers can also round up purchases to the next dollar amount for the co-op’s monthly Positive Change recipients.

The program benefits organizations working primarily in the areas of food access, racial and social justice, and local food system support. Past recipients include Minnesota FoodShare, Hmong American Farmers Association, Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota and Sweet Potato Comfort Pie, as well as several other organizations.

To reach the $1 million milestone, 3,298,523 individual donations were made. Upon reaching the milestone, Mississippi Market’s General Manager Catherine Downey said, “It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we work together.”

Congratulations to Mississippi Market on this inspiring milestone! Watch a thank you video from Mississippi Market staff to shoppers.
