Congratulations to the staff at SLO Food Co-op for being awarded “Best Natural Foods Store” in San Luis Obispo, Calif., for the second year in a row. The Best of SLO Awards is an annual list published by local newspaper and news outlet New Times, recognizing the best in food, beverage, lifestyle and entertainment. The awards are voted on by readers and the community.
According to SLO Food Co-op Communications Coordinator Kasey Main, the honor provides the co-op with an opportunity to be seen as the best natural foods store and grocery store in SLO for an entire year with earned media and more opportunities. “This allows for us to reach new audiences and strengthen the cooperative model through increased visibility and connection,” Main said.
Last year, as a result of the co-op’s first win as Best of SLO, California State Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham awarded SLO Food Co-op a certificate of recognition for work in the natural foods industry in the 35th District of California.
“Being recognized as the Best Natural Foods Store in our county really reflects our community’s dedication and interest in the local food movement,” said Main. “With more promotion of sustainable shopping habits and co-op awareness, co-ops everywhere can set the standard for the grocery store we wish to be and see in the world.”
