In recognition of Black History Month, Seward Community Co-op in Minneapolis recently published an article in a local newspaper honoring the legacy of Black cooperators, and specifically the numerous contributions of Black cooperators to Seward Co-op’s history.
Seward Co-op’s Marketing and Communications Manager Natalia Mendez, who wrote the article, says it was “inspired by our commitment to uplifting the stories of past and present Black and African American cooperators, while creating a welcoming space for those in the future.”
Mendez adds: “We are so proud of the local Twin Cities legacy of Black cooperators, and those within Seward Co-op’s history, too. From Annie Young’s work in our early years as a co-op, to LaDonna Sanders Redmond as our board of directors president, to Ray Williams as our general manager today.”
