Financial Reporting and Benchmarking

Program Overview

Co-ops submit weekly and quarterly financial data to the CoMetrics data warehouse. This data informs the work that NCG engages in to support co-ops, and provides you with powerful tools to analyze key indicators of your co-op’s health and benchmark your performance to peers to identify possible areas of opportunity.

Reports Available

Each co-op’s submitted quarterly data is mapped to a Common Chart of Accounts. The data is then made available within the CoMetrics Dashboard in the form of Trends Reporting, Benchmarking Reporting, and CoScore. Weekly Sales Trend Reports are published monthly for Designated Representatives. Learn more about each type of reporting available to you by following the CoMetrics Reference Materials link below.

Submitting Data

The deadline to submit weekly data is within five days of the co-op’s end of week. Within CoMetrics, you can view all previous submissions, and make necessary updates to previous submissions for one month. If you need to update sales or transaction count data that is older than one month, or if you need general support, please reach out to us at coop.support@ncg.coop.

The deadline to submit quarterly financial data to CoMetrics is 45 days after the close of a quarter. Each co-op must upload a detailed trial balance that includes data for each co-op’s locations. For the majority of co-ops, the quarterly deadlines are as follows:

  • May 15 for the quarter closing on or around March 31
  • August 14 for the quarter closing on or around June 30
  • November 14 for the quarter closing on or around September 30
  • Feb 14 for the quarter closing on or around December 31

It is acceptable to post an unadjusted trial balance file to meet the deadline, provided the co-op submits an adjusted trial balance as soon as it is ready.

Submission by these deadlines is required by the NCG member agreement.

Accessing Data

The financial data available through the CoMetrics site is proprietary and confidential. As such, access to the CoMetrics reports and database is limited to key contacts at a co-op, typically the DR, the finance manager, and operations or store managers.

All users must be authorized by the co-op’s designated representative. DRs can request access for users via the NCG User Add/Update form. There are two access levels:

  • CoMetrics Users have full access
  • Weekly Sales Contacts only have access to submit weekly sales data on behalf of their co-op

When a user is assigned one of these contact types by their DR, they will be assigned unique CoMetrics credentials.
